One of the major midlife crisis symptoms is an increase in stress levels. The stress levels one has directly affects their general wellbeing. They can be in the form of physical health problems such as heart pain, headache, fatigue, insomnia and body pains. Mental health problems include mood fluctuations, anxiety, bouts of depression and lower self-esteem. Thus is it vitally important for one to manage their stress levels when things may seem to get out of control. Below are discussed some strategies to help reduce stress levels:

Meditation – Meditation is often related only to those of spiritual enlightenment. It involves being aware of each breath that is taken. Sitting down for just 5 minutes in the morning can make a significant difference. Sit on a comfortable chair in a quiet room and close your eyes. Then just focus on each breath inhaled and exhaled. If the mind starts to wander, just bring the focus back to the breathing. This is one of the best stress reduction techniques out there.

Writing – jotting down your feelings on a piece of paper can be an excellent way to let off all those emotions that are buliding inside. All you need to is take a pen and paper and write whatever comes to mind. It is important that the writing is done freely to without the mind getting involved. After you’re done, you can throw the piece of paper in the bin. It is more about relaxing the mind then what you’ve written.

Walking – getting out and going for a walk is another excellent strategy for reducing stress. Take notice of the sky, the clouds, the sounds of the birds, the breeze blowing on your face, the trees. Connecting with nature allows for a soothing feeling to run through oneself which can ease anxiety. If working in the city where there are many buildings around, then just a stroll around the block can be quite helpful.

Following these few simple strategies can do wonders for reducing stress levels and overall midlife crisis symptoms
